UCLA AD Down to Three

Gary Walters of Princeton has withdrawn from consideration for the UCLA athletic director opening, leaving three finalists.
Walters, who had an interview with UCLA Chancellor Albert Carnesale on Friday, gave no reason for withdrawing, saying, “I hope the process has been as edifying for [UCLA] as it was for me. I wish them well in appointing a new leader who will have the opportunity to add luster to the school’s already impressive record.”
He is the third external candidate to withdraw in the last three weeks, after Rick Bay of San Diego State and Gary Cunningham of UC Santa Barbara.
UCLA associate athletic director Betsy Stephenson and athletic directors Dan Guerrero of UC Irvine and Gene Bleymaier of Boise State are the remaining candidates.
