Airport Gets $2.8 Million to Beef Up Security

From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Long Beach Airport has been awarded a $2.8-million federal grant to beef up security as part of a post-Sept. 11 effort by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The grant, part of a $175-million fund established to combat terrorism at U.S. airports, will help pay for new law enforcement and surveillance systems, said Long Beach spokeswoman Kathy Parsons.
