A homeless man who told police during a traffic stop that he killed his wife was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years to life in prison.
A San Fernando jury convicted John Kosmider, 44, of second-degree murder earlier this month. Kosmider beat Patricia Bowers, 45, to death on June 29, 2001, in their shack where they lived in the Tujunga Wash, Deputy Dist. Atty. Richard Taklender said. After the killing, he fled to Arizona, where authorities pulled him over for a broken windshield.
“The first thing out of his mouth was, ‘I’m drunk, and you know what, I killed my wife,’” Taklender said. L.A. County Superior Court Judge Warren G. Greene imposed the sentence.
