Lakewood, Chatsworth, Poly Win Tournaments

Shortstop Jay Lopez had five hits, including a three-run home run, and drove in six runs to lead Lakewood High (23-4) to a 19-1 victory over Rio Mesa Oxnard in the championship game of the Redondo baseball tournament.
Pitcher Mindy Cowles (19-1) threw a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts to lead Riverside Poly (21-1) to a 4-1 victory over La Habra Sonora in the championship game of the Downey softball tournament. Catcher Elizabeth Peterson had a three-run homer in the third.
Brian Lee doubled, singled and drove in four runs, Jason Dominguez hit two solo homers and Ryan Barba added a three-run homer for Chatsworth (20-3), which ended a three-game losing streak to win its own baseball tournament championship with a 12-4 victory over Reseda Cleveland. The Cavaliers had beaten Chatsworth in two consecutive league games. Dominguez (5-0) went the distance, giving up five hits while striking out five and walking one.
