Authorities raided homes and other buildings in a large-scale drug and weapon sweep that led to at least 47 arrests.
Helicopters flew overhead as dozens of FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents, along with state and local police, conducted operations throughout Carthage. Authorities said the sweep culminates a two-year investigation. Besides those arrested Wednesday, 12 people face federal or state charges, investigators said.
The probe focused on the trafficking of cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana from California, Texas and Guatemala, authorities said.
