Dangerous Place to Nap

Your travel editor may have thought the photo of a ramp employee lying in an engine inlet was cute (“My Best Shot,” June 9), but I saw a potential disaster because one coin fallen from his pocket could cause catastrophic engine failure. Mechanics and cockpit crew inspect the inlets before each flight, but a small coin would be hard to spot on the silver/gray background.
Foreign objects caused the crash of the Air France Concorde in Paris in July 2000 and cost the airline industry millions of dollars each year.
