Suspect Charged in Boy’s Beating, Molestation

A 6-year-old boy who was molested and beaten remained hospitalized in intensive care Friday, and his mother’s boyfriend has been charged with attempted murder, police said.
Pablo Robles, 34, has also been charged with committing lewd acts upon a child and aggravated mayhem, said Janet Pope of the Pasadena Police Department. He was arraigned on Friday and his bail set at $1.6 million, she said.
Pope said the boy’s mother found her son badly beaten in their home in the 1100 block of North Lake Avenue early Wednesday and called police.
The boy, who suffered extensive injuries to his body and head, had been unconscious and largely unresponsive until early Friday, Pope said.
