Two Norwalk men have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old college football player at a party in August, according to Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies.
The suspects, Jose Luna, 23, and Rafael Isaac Picado, 21, were arrested Friday night at their homes on suspicion of murdering Kevin Morris, said Deputy Roberta Granek.
Luna and Picado are being held at the department’s Norwalk station in lieu of $2-million bail each.
Morris, a native of Panorama City and a defensive back for Antelope Valley College, was shot in the upper torso while attending the party in Norwalk on Aug. 12. His teammate, 21-year-old Jerome Wright, was shot in the arm.
Deputies said they believe the shooting was racially motivated. Both victims are black, and both suspects are Latino.
