After more than a year in stores and 4.4 million copies sold, the “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” soundtrack is finally No. 1 on the U.S. pop sales chart.
Despite steady sales, the traditional folk/country collection was never higher than No. 10 until it soared to No. 2 after winning an armful of Grammys last month.
“O Brother” moved to No. 1 this week after selling 159,000 copies--about 4,000 more than Brandy’s No. 2 “Full Moon” generated during its first week in stores, according to SoundScan.
The other positions in the top 10 are held, in order, by Alanis Morissette, Linkin Park, Alan Jackson, Ludacris, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Minogue and Pink. The nation’s best-selling single is B2K’s “Uh Huh.”
