Charting the Lead: A look at the Bruins’ lead or deficit by the minute.

What happened: The Bruins picked up where they left off, going on a 13-0 run at the start of the half to take a 49-26 lead. Billy Knight, who made a three-point shot as time expired in the first half, made three straight three-pointers to start UCLA off on the right track. And Mississippi’s Jason Harrison missed two more three-pointers during the Bruin run. The Rebels’ Justin Reed made a hook shot and a layup to make it closer and Emmanuel Wade later made two three-pointers in a row to cut UCLA’s lead to 55-40. But everything else went UCLA’s way. Even Rico Hines was making shots.

Not in the box score: Not only did the Bruins have a big night offensively, their defense was outstanding. Ole Miss made only 21 of 62 shots (34%) and 10 of 35 three-pointers.

Winning number: The Bruins made 16 of 17 free throws. And UCLA’s reserves outscored the first unit, 42-38.

Wrong number: Matt Barnes, Jason Kapono and Cedric Bozeman might just as well have stayed home. Barnes made two of five shots, missing all three of his three-point shots. Kapono made one of four shots and had two points. It was goose eggs for Bozeman, despite his 13-inch height advantage over Harrison. Bozeman finished with three turnovers and Barnes had six.
