Not Everyone Is Scared to Go Abroad

I agree with Robin Harrington (“Give Us the Mideast,” Letters, March 10). It seems as if you have decided that all your readers are now afraid to travel and want to stay safe in the U.S.
I led a tour group to Egypt last November, and my group was warmly welcomed. I took another group in January, and we received the same warm welcome.
Please give us more stories on foreign destinations, especially some exotic ones (not just Europe), and fewer on the U.S. Let us decide whether we want to go.

Regarding Harrington’s letter: Perhaps there are no articles about the Middle East in the Travel section because there are not a lot of writers who are eager to travel to that part of the world since Sept. 11. I do not think The Times is being selective or prejudicial in not publishing such articles. Does the name Daniel Pearl ring a bell? Terrorism is not limited to Pakistan.
