Woman Found Guilty in Student’s Slaying

A 20-year-old Compton woman was found guilty of first-degree murder Tuesday after a three-week trial in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Araceli Pena was convicted of shooting Occidental College senior Wendy Soltero on Oct. 28, 2000, during an attempted armed robbery. The jury also found her guilty of two counts of robbery and three counts of attempted robbery.
Pena faces a life term without the possibility of parole when she is sentenced on April 30.
