Rangers’ Richter Earns 300th Victory

Goalie Mike Richter won his 300th game when Petr Nedved scored 2:20 into overtime to give the New York Rangers a 3-2 win at home over Phoenix on Monday night. Richter is the 19th goalie to reach 300 victories.

Pittsburgh 3, Washington 2 -- Mario Lemieux scored the winning goal at Pittsburgh after receiving 25 stitches for a cut lip suffered in the first period.

Lemieux was struck when Alexei Kovalev’s shot deflected off Sergei Gonchar’s stick across the ice. Lemieux stayed down for about 90 seconds.

Tampa Bay 6, Florida 1 -- Nikolai Khabibulin made 22 saves at Sunrise, Fla., and the Lightning scored four goals in a span of 3:03 late in the third period.

Dallas 4, Edmonton 3 -- Mike Modano scored his second goal of the game 37 seconds into overtime at Edmonton, Canada, to ruin the Oilers’ rally from a two-goal deficit in the third period.
