An El Toro Airport? Not in Our Front Rooms

Re “Rethinking the Will of the People on El Toro,” Aug. 25:
The Leisure World residents, who are South County residents, are sorry, Mr. Ewers, that we give you a pain. We wish to correct you by changing your NIMBYs to NIMFR. Not in my front room.
A 24-hour international airport, with the thundering noise from jumbo jets heading for a landing, 500 feet over our heads, spewing jet exhaust, would drive us out of our homes.
Contrary to your comments, Mr. Ewers, we are very grown up and are very responsible adults, voting down this awful idea because we are not willing to allow an international airport to cause the demise of our beautiful community. The runways are a stone’s throw from Leisure World.
