More to See in Astoria

I just returned from three days in Astoria, Ore., and the surrounding area, so I was pleased to read Jerry Haines’ article “At Play on Oregon’s Coast: Pioneer heritage, ocean and river vistas, seafood by the boatload--and rain” (Aug. 11). We spent an afternoon in Cannon Beach, a small town delightful for walking, shopping and just looking around. Another must is Baked Alaska, a restaurant on the water in Astoria. The food was excellent, the service was great and it was not expensive.
Our only disappointment was the Grandview B&B.; The breakfast was minimal. Some of the staff were very strict and unfriendly. We felt like intruders.
