Rocker fired from ‘Superstar’

“Everything’s all right” is a soothing refrain from “Jesus Christ Superstar,” but it doesn’t apply to the musical’s current touring production, which this week fired rocker Sebastian Bach from the title role.
Tom McCoy, executive producer of the tour, said Thursday that Bach’s contract, which was to have run through September, was terminated on Tuesday. McCoy would not give a reason for the former Skid Row singer’s dismissal, other than that it had to do with “events that occurred last weekend in Columbus, Ohio” and did not involve an arrest or anything illegal -- Bach having had some highly publicized altercations and arrests while forging a reputation as one of rock’s bad boys.
Bach, who turned 35 on Thursday, could not be reached for comment. A posting on his Web site dated March 28 advises fans, “If for some reason I am not in the play, you are entitled to your money back.”
The tour, also starring Carl Anderson as Judas, began last November at the La Mirada Theatre and is scheduled to return to Southern California in September with performances at the Orange County Performing Arts Center and the Wilshire Theatre. McCoy said that understudy Raymond Patterson is filling in as Jesus until a hoped-for name replacement can be found.
