An ex-convict was arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing his mother, brother and a family friend with a kitchen knife before trying to set their house on fire, Reading police said.
Officers said Demetrio Mendez, 31, confessed and told them he became angry after his mother told him to move out.
“Unfortunately, three people died as a result of his rage,” said police Capt. Francis Drexler.
Mendez got out of prison last month after serving time for a domestic violence charge against a girlfriend, Drexler said.
The victims were identified as Gladys Mendez, 48; David Mendez, 29; and Andrew Luis Lopez, 67.
