Man Sentenced for Interstate Brick Assault

A man who threw a brick through a car’s windshield, shattering the driver’s face and blinding her in one eye, has been sentenced in Grand Rapids to three to 10 years in prison.
Jeffrey Douglas Kooiman, 18, pleaded guilty in June to assault. He and some friends were hurling bricks at vehicles on an interstate because they were bored, he said.
Driver Vickie Prantle, 47, of Oakfield Township, suffered a ruptured eye, and nearly every bone in her face was broken.
