BY THE NUMBERS
* 4 Passes completed by Norco quarterback Kirk Philbrook over the last two weeks -- or twice as many passes as he completed the previous five weeks -- in seven victories. One completion was a 35-yarder during a late 90-yard drive to beat Temecula Chaparral, 49-47, in a Southern Section Division V quarterfinal.
* 35 Points allowed by previously undefeated Colton directly off turnovers in the second-seeded Yellowjackets’ 56-38 Division V quarterfinal loss to Corona Santiago.
PLAYMAKERS
* San Clemente running back Cheyne Verhagen scored from 26 yards with 42 seconds left to give the third-seeded Tritons a 20-14 victory over Valencia. San Clemente eliminated the Vikings from the Division II playoffs for the second year in a row.
* Quarterback Andrew Mathews scored on a 40-yard bootleg with 5:09 left to give Fontana Kaiser a 21-14 Division VIII quarterfinal victory over Barstow.
STANDOUTS
* Tyler Pringle rushed 22 times for 157 yards and four touchdowns, and Brian Seidensticker completed eight of 15 passes for 199 yards and a touchdown to lead top-seeded Manhattan Beach Mira Costa to a 52-24 victory over West Hills Chaminade in the Division III quarterfinals.
* Chad Kackert rushed 18 times for 209 yards and scored five touchdowns in Simi Valley Grace Brethren’s 32-12 Division XIII quarterfinal victory over Anza Hamilton.
* Javonte Holmes rushed 11 times for 135 yards and two touchdowns to lead Palmdale to a 30-7 Division III quarterfinal victory over Downey Warren.
* Tahj Mowry rushed 21 times for 105 yards and three touchdowns to give second-seeded Westlake Village Westlake a 27-3 Division IV quarterfinal victory over Redondo.
* Alex Lopez rushed for 116 yards and three touchdowns as Moorpark defeated Camarillo, 28-7, in the Division IV quarterfinals.
