Garcia picked to head Highways
Southern California theater artist Leo Garcia has been named artistic director of Highways Performance Space in Santa Monica.
Garcia, a playwright, actor, filmmaker, teacher, director and producer who has been involved in numerous Highways productions, will replace Danielle Brazell, a performer who has served in the position since 1999.
Garcia’s writings include his solo show “My Alien Abduction” and the play “Dogs.”
Highways was founded in 1989 by Tim Miller, whose solo works explored gay themes and who was one of the so-called “NEA Four,” a group of provocative performance artists who had their grants revoked by the National Endowment for the Arts.
