Disabled-Parking Activist to Stand Trial

Disabled activist Mathew Lakota will stand trial for allegedly dispensing tickets to drivers who violated disabled-parking laws.
Butte County Superior Court Judge Robert Glusman on Tuesday ordered Lakota to stand trial on charges of attempted extortion and receiving stolen property, both felonies.
Chico and Oroville authorities testified that Lakota told them he had issued his own handmade tickets to vehicles he found parked illegally in spaces for the disabled. Lakota, 49, was arrested after he ticketed three drivers and deposited their “penalty” payments.
