Timothy Baird has been chosen as superintendent of the Ojai Unified School District, replacing Van Riley.
Baird, 46, currently serves as assistant superintendent in the district. The school board approved his appointment at a special meeting last week, during which it also accepted Riley’s resignation.
Riley, who ran Ojai’s schools for 2 1/2 years, is leaving July 1 to become superintendent of the Huntington Beach Union High School District.
The board will consider details of Baird’s contract at its meeting Tuesday.
