15 Teens Charged With Battery in Hazing Melee

Fifteen suburban Chicago teenagers were charged with misdemeanor battery for their alleged roles in a hazing incident where high school girls were beaten and showered with filth.
The 17- and 18-year-old seniors were charged as adults and face up to a year in jail. Authorities accused adult residents of affluent Northbrook of stonewalling the investigation into how the teens acquired beer.
“When everybody you talk to says they have a lawyer and don’t want to talk to you, there’s an issue,” Cook County prosecutor Richard Devine said.
The school has suspended 32 students in the incident.
