Don’t Blame Prisons for a ‘Culture of Terror’
- Share via
Re “California’s Prison System Needs Rehabilitation,” Commentary, April 14: The rest of the headline states that “a federal takeover may be necessary to end a culture of terror and brutality.”
Instead of looking at the allegations against guards, we should be looking at the assaults by inmates on guards and hard-working citizens. The inmates are in prison for a reason. Instead of making the inmates out as victims, we should hold them accountable for their actions.
I’m more than happy to hand over my tax dollars to keep this “culture of terror” off the streets and away from my children. Handing over the prison system to the federal level would be about as smart as handing California back to former Gov. Gray Davis.
