Traitors, Not Heroes

Re “Nuclear Hero’s ‘Crime’ Was Making Us Safer,” Commentary, April 21: It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Daniel Ellsberg should come to the defense of Mordechai Vanunu [an Israeli who in 1986 gave the London Sunday Times photos of Israel’s nuclear weapons facility]. It takes a traitor to know one.
Neither of these men is a hero. They should both be ashamed that they jeopardized the security of their respective nations by making state secrets public.
