Indelible Influence of Service Learning

Re: “Monterey Bay Campus Is a Role Model,” Aug. 10: The Service Learning Institute is one of the best things CSU Monterey Bay had to offer me. My service learning experiences included cooking meals and planning softball games for a local soup kitchen, designing interpretive panels for state parks with local high school students and creating public art that addressed the core issues of youth violence with teens from a juvenile facility. I can only hope that I touched others’ lives through service learning as much as they did mine. The social, moral and multicultural skills and knowledge I gained through service learning have influenced my outlook as well as every decision I make in life.
