$835,000 Payout OKd Over Protester’s Injury

The Police Commission has approved a deal to pay $835,000 to a protester who sued the city after a police officer broke her arm with a baton during an antiwar demonstration in 2002.
The settlement was approved Wednesday after Linda Vaccarezza, 39, of Sonoma filed a federal lawsuit. The deal must be approved by county supervisors.
