Re “Nibbling at the Constitution,” editorial, Dec. 9: Sen. Robert C. Byrd (D-W.Va.) with his proposed legislation wants to emphasize the importance of teaching schoolchildren about the Constitution and for what it stands. It is to the benefit of children to understand our system, our rights and obligations. Editorial opposition to this legislation reveals what is wrong in our country: too many enemies who fight to defeat what is good and important for our children.
