3 Die as Bird Flu Continues to Spread

A bird flu sweeping Asia has killed three people in Vietnam, the World Health Organization said, as jittery governments destroyed millions of chickens and banned poultry imports to try to contain the epidemic.
Tests were being carried out to determine whether the additional deaths of nine children in Hanoi were linked to the disease, the WHO said.
The three avian flu deaths in Vietnam -- an adult and two children -- were caused by the same virus found in sick chickens, the WHO said.
The same strain killed six people in Hong Kong in 1997, when more than 1 million fowl were destroyed.
