Hit-and-Run Kills Boy; Possible Suspect Is Held

A 13-year-old boy died Friday after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Westminster, police said.
The boy, whose name was not released, was crossing Edwards Street at the San Diego Freeway overpass about 3 p.m. when he was hit by someone who fled in a dark green 1993 Lexus, police said.
Police later recovered the car and detained a possible suspect for questioning, a spokesman said. The boy suffered severe head injuries and died at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
