Driver, 22, Killed After Car Flips, CHP Says

A 22-year-old motorist was killed Saturday when he apparently lost control of his car on a roadway near Thousand Oaks, causing the vehicle to roll down an embankment.
The victim was killed instantly in the 12:50 p.m. accident, which occurred on westbound Potrero Road at Long Grade Canyon, authorities said. The man’s identity was withheld pending notification of relatives.
He had been driving a 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX at about 70 mph when he failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the roadway and down an embankment and overturned several times, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Daniel Holiday, a friend of the victim, had been driving his own vehicle directly behind the Subaru at the time of the accident and told officers he and the victim “were driving too fast,” authorities said.
There were no passengers in either vehicle.
Though alcohol does not appear to be a factor, the accident remains under investigation, authorities said.
