Prince ceases to amaze this fan

On Paul Brownfield’s “The Artist Currently Known as Amazing” [June 10]: With tickets in hand to Prince’s last show at the Staples Center, the hyperbole by then all but guaranteeing one incredible night, I was disillusioned that he started the show via shameless video footage of his Hall of Fame induction, setting a tone of embarrassing self-importance. His flamboyant red outfit with white polka dots killed any masculine delusions I might have entertained about him, and the excruciatingly long wait for his encore became instead a dare to leave (which I took). For me, all that lingered was a lack of subtlety and humility.
