Arroyo Valley’s Coleman to USC

Two-way football standout Michael Coleman of San Bernardino Arroyo Valley has committed to USC.
The 6-foot-2, 225-pound senior is a running and passing threat at quarterback but has been recruited primarily as a defensive back. He selected the Trojans over Notre Dame, Texas and Utah.

Frank Palminteri, a Chino Hills Ayala history teacher and former coach who has been on leave since May, died Tuesday at his home in Corona. He was 53.
The cause of death was unknown, but family members said he had been diagnosed in July with the rare degenerative disorder Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.
Palminteri began his teaching and basketball coaching career in the mid-1970s at Simi Valley Royal, followed by stops at Ventura St. Bonaventure, UC Irvine, Villa Park and Chino Don Lugo before he transferred to Ayala in 1992.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Chino Hills.
