The late cartoonist and children’s book author Syd Hoff will be honored Sept. 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the children’s room of the Beverly Hills Library.
The program for children has been planned by Hoff’s sister, Dorothy Ross of Beverly Hills, other West Coast relatives and the library.
Hoff, author of “Danny and the Dinosaur” and “Sammy the Seal,” died May 12 in Miami Beach of pneumonia at 91.
HarperCollins, Hoff’s longtime publisher, will give the library copies of the 18 Hoff books still in print and five enlarged, framed book covers.
Also, the author’s niece, Carol Edmonston of Fullerton, will present 12 framed original cartoons by Hoff, a New Yorker contributor for more than 40 years.
Edmonston said children will be served “Danny and the Dinosaur” cookies by Mrs. Beasley’s Bakery of Beverly Hills.
