Cartoon canines: Patrick McDonnell, creator of the comic strip “Mutts,” is curator of an exhibit opening today at the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, “Comic Canines Before and After Snoopy.” It features art from such classic strips as “Blondie,” “Krazy Kat,” “Little Orphan Annie,” “Marmaduke” and “The Far Side.”
At auction: A violin made more than three centuries ago by Antonio Stradivari fetched a record $2 million in an auction, the highest price for any musical instrument, Christie’s said Friday. The sale surpassed the previous mark of $1.8 million for a Stradivari violin sold in 1990, according to the auction house.
