From Times Staff Reports
A bill that would make it illegal for Californians to shoot animals on computer-assisted hunting websites passed the state Senate this week, 25-7.
Offered by Sen. Debra Bowen (D-Marina del Rey), SB 1028 will now go to the state Assembly.
The bill is in response to a Texas business, live-shot.com, that uses computer-controlled cameras and a rifle on a ranch near San Antonio to allow people to shoot antelope, sheep and deer while sitting at their computers.
At least 14 other states and Congress also are considering bans.
