Roads Closed to Protect Peak From Heavy Use

The U.S. Forest Service wants to close 75 miles of roads on a mountain popular with off-road vehicle enthusiasts, mountain bikers, hikers and runners, saying a “free-for-all” situation is damaging Peavine Peak.
The Forest Service proposal would keep open more than 100 miles of roads and trails on the 8,260-foot mountain, just northwest of Reno.
