An Anaheim man was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and drunk driving after he struck and killed two pedestrians, police said Monday.
Adrian Gonzales, 22, hit the victims separately while traveling about 60 mph through an alley and out onto a street Sunday, said Sgt. Rick Martinez.
Gonzales first struck Laurencio Centeno, 64, of Anaheim, who had been crossing an alley north of Ball Road near Palm Way, Martinez said.
The impact threw Centeno across four lanes of traffic on Ball Road, Martinez said.
Centeno died at the scene.
Gonzales’ 1995 Mitsubishi then struck Rubab Fatima, 54, of Anaheim, who was crossing Palm Way.
Martinez said she was thrown about 50 feet.
Fatima was taken by ambulance to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where she died.
Gonzales was injured when his car struck a tree.
He was hospitalized and awaiting booking Monday, Martinez said.
