3 Sisters Killed When Plane Sinks in Lake

A small plane crashed during a blinding snowstorm and sank into a large, ice-covered lake, killing three young sisters who were traveling home to Port Alsworth with their parents, state troopers said.
Jeremy Davis, 38, and his wife, Michelle Davis, 31, managed to climb out of their plane and reach shore.
But daughters Samantha, 9, Jesse, 7, and Katie, 6, did not escape before the plane slipped through the cracked ice on Lake Clark into deep water a mile offshore, police said.
The plane had made a hard landing on the lake, state police spokesman Greg Wilkinson said. It was not clear whether it would be possible to recover the children’s bodies, authorities said.
