Workers Asked to Volunteer
The public now knows what the “big picture” is. (“US Airways Appeals to Workers,” Dec. 29). The airlines want the employees to volunteer their time!
They have reduced employee pay up to 40%, increased charges for medical benefits for employees and retirees and are trying to palm off the retirement plans on the government Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. plan. While all this is going on, the chief executives continue to get millions in salaries, stock options and retirement plans.
Wake up, America: It’s not the CEOs who fly the planes.
