British Columbia Boosts Credits for Film Industry

British Columbia bowed to pressure from the film industry and said it would increase tax incentives for film and television show production in the western Canadian province.
British Columbia Finance Minister Colin Hansen said the province would increase the tax credit for labor costs on productions aimed at the foreign market to 18% from 11%, matching a similar move by Ontario.
Hollywood producers had threatened to take filming to Ontario and Quebec, which also hiked its tax credits, unless British Columbia took steps to offset the effect of the stronger Canadian dollar.
