Authorities were searching Monday for a man dubbed the “Senior Citizen Bandit” who they believe held up a bank in San Juan Capistrano and may also be responsible for heists in northern San Diego County.
The man is thought to be in his late 70s, which would make him one of the oldest known bank robbers, police said.
During the 11 a.m. holdup Friday at Washington Mutual in the 31900 block of Camino Capistrano, police said, the robber took a silver small-caliber handgun from his waistband and ordered a teller to fill a leather bag with money.
