Pharmacopeia, Allergan to Team on Eye Drugs

Pharmacopeia Drug Discovery Inc. said it would work with Allergan Inc. to develop treatments for a leading cause of blindness that might compete with drugs from Pfizer Inc., Eyetech Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Genentech Inc.
Pharmacopeia and Allergan, maker of the Botox wrinkle treatment, said they would collaborate on drugs for age-related degeneration of the eye’s macula. The condition is the leading cause of vision loss in Americans over age 60, according to the National Institutes of Health’s website.
