Agency Will Investigate Foster Care Deaths

The Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to create an office to investigate deaths of children in foster care or otherwise under the supervision of county social workers.
Supervisor Gloria Molina, who proposed the new agency, cited frustration with the pace of investigations by the county’s children’s services inspector general’s office, which she said sometimes finishes reports five months after a death.
