War’s true reality

Tony PERRY’S “Showing the True Horrors of War Through Fiction” [July 17] shows that the entertainment industry is slowly warming up to the realities of war. I wonder, though, how realistic it is.
While it is important to show the terrors faced by soldiers and their families, it is only part of war’s story.
The big gap in this presentation -- and in most of the media coverage -- is the failure to confront the moral, political and legal aspects of this war. What people suffer is not nearly as important as why they do.
If anything, war is an ethical concern. It will be interesting to see how Steven Bochco’s new series skirts around that titanic, overbearing reality.
