Bankruptcy Filings Fall 3.8% in 2004

Bankruptcy filings dropped 3.8% in 2004 to 1.6 million compared with 2003, the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts said. The majority of bankruptcy filings were nonbusiness filings, which totaled 1.56 million in 2004, down 3.8% from 2003. Business filings fell 2.1% in 2004, the administrative office said.
