A businessman who collected about $5.7 million from hundreds of people in a fraudulent telemarketing scheme involving oil and gas wells was sentenced to more than five years in federal prison, officials said Monday.
Alan Brian Baiocchi, 47, of Newport Beach was president of Intro Technology Services, a telemarketing firm that collected investments from more than 200 people for oil and gas wells in Oklahoma from 1995 to 1997. The money was not invested but was kept by Baiocchi and his telemarketers.
Baiocchi was convicted of two counts of wire fraud and ordered to pay $3.8 million in restitution.
