Four men were killed Monday when their car veered into oncoming traffic and collided with an SUV north of the Contra Costa County line.
The Ford Tempo was traveling north on Vasco Road, a busy commuter route between Livermore and Brentwood, about 7:40 a.m. when it crossed the double yellow line into the path of a Ford Expedition heading the other way, said California Highway Patrol Officer Scott Yox.
The SUV hit the passenger side of the Tempo, killing its four occupants “virtually instantaneously,” Yox said. The unidentified victims, all in their 20s and residents of Hayward, worked for the same San Jose construction company and were on their way to a job in Brentwood, he said.
