Re “Innocent Bystander Is Shot, Badly Wounded in Westwood Restaurant,” Dec. 28
Los Angeles Police Department detectives should stop using the phrase “in the wrong place at the wrong time” when a bystander is shot. A child walking to a corner grocery store, a man driving home from work and a young person out at a nice restaurant are not “in the wrong place.” The problem is not the citizens going about their business but the availability of handguns to every hothead with a grudge, and the inability of our society to do anything about it.
