Frigid ‘Super-Earth’ 9,000 Light-Years Away

From Times Wire Reports

A cold “super-Earth,” 13 times the weight of our planet, has been found orbiting a distant star, astronomers said.

The planet is about 9,000 light-years away, roughly the same distance from its star as Jupiter and Saturn are from the sun.

An international team of scientists estimated the new planet has a temperature of minus 330 degrees Fahrenheit, making it one of the coldest planets detected outside our solar system.

The planet is dubbed a super-Earth because it is thought to be a rocky, terrestrial planet.
